Mountain and Bike Hosts

Mountain and Bike Hosts
Mountain hosts have become a vital addition to ski area staff and are common at resorts across America. These individuals interact with guests to promote safety and provide customer service.

Bike hosts serve in similar capacities for a wide range of land management units. Learn more about the bike host program here.

If you are interested in serving people who engage in outdoor recreation, but not interested in becoming a patroller, you can consider joining a mountain or bike host unit.  Hosts serve in a variety of roles, but are trained as first responders through the Outdoor First Care (OFC) course.  This required first aid course includes content knowledge and hands-on skills training.  OFC only costs $25.00 and provides a two-year certification upon completion.  Subsequent renewals of OFC may be completed at no additional charge.  Interested individuals should reach out to the host unit they are interested in joining.

NSP hosts receive the following NSP member benefits

  • The ability to purchase all NSP Online Store items except patrol uniform-specific items.
  • All NSP Pro Deals.
  • The ability to participate and be credentialed in NSP training or education programs.
